Celebrate the Golden Age of Travel with Aviator Douglas DC-3

Revolutionizing travel, the Douglas DC-3 transported passengers with First Class style and became instrumental during the Golden Age of aviation. By blending the sophistication of luxurious travel with minimalist Art Deco design, the Aviator Douglas DC-3 timepiece honors the greatest airplane of its time.

In the 1930s, craftsmanship was considered an art form. Minimalistic design fused curved lines and streamlined shapes that were often set into highly polished metals. Design was equal part form and function in the Art Deco era. And the Aviator Douglas DC-3 was no different. Made with premium materials, its sophisticated styling became the blueprint for designing the Douglas model.

Drawing inspiration from this legendary aircraft, Aviator incorporated a classic Art Deco design for a genuinely vintage look and feel – one that transports you to a time when innovation and design were exquisitely premium.

Designed with intense sunray finishing coupled with a recessed ring and fine concentric circles, its sophisticated Art Deco style is undeniably timeless. Since visibility and readability are key attributes, the Douglas collection unites design and function – from luminescent indicators on every hour along to a clean minimalistic design.

The case is comprised of three symmetrical parts: bezel, body case, back case. Hand-finished with fine watchmaking techniques, its rounded curves are inspired by the graceful sophistication of the Douglas aircraft’s fuselage. Its stunning, mirror-polished surfaces are streamlined by ergonomically sleek lines. And its curved lugs exemplify an elegance from yesteryears, while ensuring a proper fit perfect on any wrist. Like all Aviator cases, it requires more than 40 operations to keep up with rigorous itineraries.

Crafted from the most premium materials, every Aviator strap is individually developed to share the spirit of the collection. The luxurious, alligator-style leather strap of this timepiece has undergone an extensive tanning process to enhance suppleness and pairs an elegant contrast stitching for added sophistication. It features an easy locking system of the deployment buckle that fastens the strap with one click. To adjust, simply move the buckle forward or backward on the strap.

Incorporating the Douglas DC-3 cockpit rudder instrument in its design, the case back emulates the functionality that calculates rudder angles and controls the position of the nose and back of the aircraft. This feature is covered in crystal to protect against scratches and shocks, in addition to providing a comfortable fit on the wrist. Acute details reflecting aviation heritage and fine watchmaking techniques such as these details are inherent in every Aviator Douglas watch.
