is confident of the quality of the mechanical timepieces we carry. That said, in spite of countless tests and certifications, mechanical timepiece movements are not entirely immune to errors. This, in itself, is a reason why mechanical timepieces are fascinating for many avid timepiece collectors. We been confident in our timepieces, all watches are covered under warranty for a period of 1 year while Poljot International, Junkers, Zeppelin and Denissov timepieces come with a 2 years warranty period. The warranty beginning from the date of purchase covers any manufacturing or material defects. Terms and conditions apply for this warranty to be valid, as detailed below. |

• Movement misalignment – With more than 100 to 200 parts assembled in a case of 40mm, every individual part is a fraction of a milimeter if you do the sum. Even though, timepiece movements are equipped with shock absorbers, excessive shock or impact will influence the beat rate (frequency) thus affecting the accuracy. In other cases, some parts may be misaligned, disengaging the movement causing the timepiece to cease function completely or at certain positions. It is prohibited to wear mechanical timepieces for sports or activities that require vigorous movement.
• Moisture got into the timepiece - Most timepiece movements are made up of metal parts combined with synthetic rubies and lubricants. Such materials function properly in a dry and air tight environment. Moisture trapped in the timepiece will do serious damage both internally and externally. Moisture causes movements to rust causing damage such as inaccuracy and eventually lead to dysfunction. Externally, moisture cause hands to corrode and reduce visibility on the timepiece. Timepieces are often in a serious condition when moisture is observed beneath the glass therefore it is important for consumers to send it to a qualified technician before it becomes fatal.
• Timepiece needs to be lubricated – Just like any other form of machinery, most timepieces rely on lubricants to function properly. Not wearing a timepiece over long periods of time is harmful to the movement because the lubricants do not get distributed evenly to the whole movement. In the worst case scenario, the timepiece cease to function therefore it is crucial to wear the timepiece frequently. It is advisable to wind the timepiece up (even if it is an automatic one) 10 to 15 winds when one only wears it occasionally. Alternatively, one can place automatic timepieces in winder to achieve the same effect.
Overall, it doesn’t take much to take care of your timepiece. Just give it the amount of love and concern you would give to your car, sending it for regular servicing, not parking in the garage for months without driving it and certainly not treating it like a bulldozer. Timepieces have feelings too! Once they feel appreciated, they will serve the owners well for years to come. |
